cell-phone functions are too multifarious

A recent survey shows that two thirds of the British men think that the cell phones nowadays are far too complicated.

complex-cell-phone-functions-buyvertureplica.comthe cell phone functions are According to a research done by a cell-phone recycling company Fonebank, 61% mobile phone users hold the opinion that compared with ten years ago, the mobile phones in present days have too many unnecessary functions, and 45% say that they don’t use the MP3 function installed in their phones at all.

And 30% users admit that they don’t care the image quality of the camera of their cell phones. FoneBank states that about half of the respondents only use their mobile phones to send short messages and make calls, and 39% say that they only choose cell phones with simple functions when purchasing. FoneBank also points out that three fourths of the interviewees find the quality of the present mobile phones unreliable, and 72% people can only use a same phone for as long as two year, and after that they have to buy a new one.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 cell phone

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 cell phone is going to be cheaper than the mini / mini pro phones. It looks okay, except for the thickness. It felt solid, and the had great touch sensitivity. It is a pretty small but good device! It’s not confirmed whether this device is shipping with 1.6. As per Sony Ericsson, this device may ship with 2.1 because they have already completed porting their skin to 2.1. That will be a free phone with a 2 year contract when it comes out, right? It looks seriously cheap.

Nokia E71 color schemes are just sexy and beautiful, Nokia E71 will be available in chrome / red and solid black colors. Nokia E71 still features a full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, HSDPA, A-GPS and a 3.2 megapixel camera and a front facing camera for video chat.

Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition

Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition

Want to give that special someone in your life something classy but is also functional at the same time? If the answer is yes, then the Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition is just what we would recommend.

nokia 6700 classic gold edition

This is a lavishly customized version of the Nokia 6700 classic gold in an 18-carat gold finish. It also comes with custom wallpapers and an equally elegant leather carrying case and strap to complete its new opulent design. They’re also throwing in an 8GB microSD card as part of the package so that you have all the memory you need to store the various pictures you’ve taken using its built-in 5-megapixel camera.

Sadly though, you’ll have to wait for next year to get your hands on one. The Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition is expected to hit select markets in the first quarter of 2010 and will retail with an estimated price of €370 or roughly $550 in the greenback before taxes and subsidies are applied.

Samsung Jet S8000

As you might guess from the name, the Samsung Jet S8000 is intended to be a very fast phone to use. At its heart is an 800 MHz processor, and the Jet also comes with WiFi and HSDPA high-speed downloads. There's a large 3.1" 800 x 480 pixel display, a 5 megapixel camera and GPS too.
We touched on multimedia a moment ago - the Samsung Jet S8000 can play back almost all major audio and video formats, including the ubiquitous MP3, AAC and Windows Media formats plus DivX movies. The Jet has a built-in FM radio and a standard 3.5mm audio socket. The Jet can manage to playback and record D1 video (at least 720 x 480 pixels) at 30 frames per second, which is pretty impressive. The Jet S8000 also has a video editor. All of this media can be stored on microSD cards of up to 16GB.

The 5 megapixel camera on the Jet has autofocus and a dual LED flash. Because it's a Samsung, the Jet's camera also has smile detection and panoramic stitching, plus it can use the Jet's GPS system to geo-tag photographs.

Samsung Jet S8000 Underneath, this is a quad-band GSM phone with 900 / 2100 MHz UMTS, with HSPDA download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. In fact, the HSDPA speed is one potential weak point when some rivals will soon be topping 10 Mbps. WiFi is supported too, as is Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0. The S8000 measures 109 x 54 x 12mm and weighs a pretty lightweight 110 grams. The 1100 mAh battery provides a maximum talktime of 5 hours on 3G and 8 hours on GSM with around 17 days standby time.

In terms of styling, this is a pretty standard black slabby device bit a few colour highlights on the back, and an unusually shaped navigation button on the front which is just about the only distinctive feature.

Cell phones might not be so bad after all.

Lab work on mice by scientists in Florida that radiation emitted by cell phones could protect against Alzheimer's disease.

In a study published by the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, the Florida Alzheimer's Desease Research Centre tested 96 mice, many that were genetically altered to develop Alzheimer's disease.

The mice were then exposed to standard phone radiation for two one-hour periods each day for seven to nine months.

BlackBerry Curve 83xx series outsells iPhone in Q1 2009

iPhone is apparently still no match for the tried and tested BlackBerry Curve 83xx series. Based on a study conducted by the NPD group RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 83xx series was the best selling smartphone for Q1 of 2009.

blackberry-curve-8330

The slight slow down in sales of the iPhone 3G made it slip to no. 2 in the rankings while the 3rd and 4th spot were also occupied by RIM with their Storm and Pearl series (with exception of the Flip) respectively. The Android T-Mobile G1 phone was at 5th place. It’s not surprising that most of the smartphones in the top 5 are from RIM since they actually managed to ship 7.8 million BlackBerry phones from December of last year to February of 2009.

Of course, with a new i phone lurking in the horizon, things might change in favor of Apple. However, RIM also has a couple of new BlackBerry handsets such as the set to debut soon as well, so we can’t really count RIM out just yet. One thing’s for sure though, this battle between RIM and Apple will certainly go down the wire.

BlackBerry 8705 Pics

blackberry_8705-2.jpg

Pics of the BlackBerry 8705 have begun to meander their way around the World Wide Web.

As best as we can figure, the BlackBerry 8705 is simply a normal BlackBerry 8700 except with HAC (Hearing Aid Capability). There is also a minor GSM radio and some component changes. There was a lot of buzz that the BlackBerry 8705 would have some Wi-Fi capability, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The BlackBerry 8700 is able to play MP3s, Bluetooth capability, along with Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology. The 8700c does promise web-browsing, if it is Wi-Fi you want, then this is gadget for you.

Motorola Aura brings SwitchBlade Design Back in Fashion

Tired of the usual clamshell and candybar form factors for mobile phones? Why not a switchblade design?

Yup, Motorola’s bringing back their old switchblade design in the Aura. The Motorola Aura is their latest luxury phone which is a throwback to one of their classic innovations from back in the day. So, aside from the truly unique form factor, what else will you get for a $1,999 phone?

It’s got Grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal lens, a stainless steel body that’s been electro and hand polished, Swiss-made and custom-engineered rotating mechanism with 130 precision ball bearings, and custom Tungsten Carbide Coated gears. Sadly though, as luxury phones often go, they have very little to offer as far as functionality is concerned. It comes equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, EDGE, and text and e-mail capabilities which can be found in almost any mid-range phone.

However, if you fancy elegantal devices, this is one for the books. It’s expected to be launched globally at the beginning of the last quarter of this year. Those looking for more bang for the buck should definitely stay clear of this one.
